the Hub is a custom-built corporate intranet for Cardinal Financial, evolved over four major iterations from WordPress to Laravel 12. It serves as the company's central platform for news, document management, HR policies, product resources, a company directory, shared calendar, ideas board, and an employee engagement layer featuring gamification and Kudos recognition.

The intranet

A corporate intranet serving Cardinal Financial for eight years, evolved from WordPress to Laravel. Features a company directory synced nightly from HR, kudos and gamification, an ideas board with voting, a video library, and a Vue.js job board fed by the ATS. Search powered by Algolia with custom profiles integrating HR and loan origination data. Asana integrations centralize leadership updates, and real-time notifications run on Laravel Reverb.

Docs Pipeline

Migrated ~600 policies and procedures from Google Docs to a Git-managed Markdown repository. A GitHub Actions pipeline converts Markdown to HTML with Jekyll, extracting metadata such as version, authors, and categories from structured tables. Versioned HTML files deploy to wp-private and are never modified. WordPress stores only metadata and file paths, rendering content through a proxy. Documents are fragmented and indexed in Algolia for full-text search. A queue system runs via WP Engine cron every minute, decoupling deployments from user traffic.

Ideas Board

An internal ideas board where employees submit, describe, and vote on improvements to the company's web and software products. Each submission captures the use case and problem being solved, and ideas progress through defined stages like Submitted, Under Review, In Progress, Completed, and Not Workable, giving leadership a prioritized view of employee pain points. I served as technical lead and architect, speccing the system design and overseeing code review through delivery. One submission, Bookmarks, was adopted and built into a full Hub feature for saving frequently referenced content.
